A "product story" is anything you say about why you've made the product, what it does, why it looks the way it does and those thousands of other details that kept you up at night.
Only some parts are useful when you are talking to someone else. And the parts that are useful are different based on who you are talking with. Plus, the definition of "talking with" includes actual conversation, email, packaging, social media, billboards, and whatever other way people find out about you!
Effectively telling your product story to the right people at the right times involves editing.
